Island Wellbeing

Project

We fund and support Island Wellbeing Coordinators on Hoy, Sanday, Stronsay, Shapinsay, Westray; and Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre. Coordinators have a dual role, providing one-to-one support, and developing new projects and groups for residents.

Our Research

We believe that understanding the needs and opportunities within our islands is essential to supporting our communities. This is why we’ve invested in research evidencing the value of community-led support and why we carry out the annual Island Wellbeing Survey.

The Island Wellbeing Project and Island Self Management Group are managed by Voluntary Action Orkney (VAO). VAO supports the third sector in Orkney by providing advice, information and practical services. VAO is a company limited by guarantee, registered in Scotland number 143208, and a registered Scottish charity, number SC010691. Our registered office is at Anchor Buildings, 6 Bridge Street, Kirkwall, KW15 1HR.
